Learn more about BioCare Systems, the company behind the LumiWave.

Sherry Fox and her late husband Joe Pecukonis, an electrical engineer and inventor, founded BioCare Systems, Inc. in 1999. Their goal was to design, develop and market innovative new medical devices using the latest light therapy technology to help relieve pain, enhance healing and improve the quality of life for active people suffering from debilitating conditions.

Before his death in 2001, Mr. Pecukonis had obtained 14 U.S. patents. His fifteenth patent, which was granted posthumously in 2002, was as an infrared light therapy device that he had invented.

This first patented device was called the PremIR 818. In 2004, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the PremIR 818 device for temporary relief of minor muscle pain and spasms and minor joint pain and stiffness, such as resulting from strains and sprains. It was also cleared for use to temporarily increase local blood circulation in injured body areas.

The LumiWave® Infrared Light Therapy Device was developed and patented in 2005 by Ms. Fox and her team of engineers. Also in 2005, the FDA cleared the LumiWave® device (predicated on the PremIR 818) for temporary relief of minor muscle pain and spasms and minor joint pain and stiffness, such as resulting from strains and sprains, as well as the first clearance for the treatment of arthritis for an infrared therapy device. It was also cleared for use to temporarily increase local blood circulation in injured body areas.

Since then, we have sold the LumiWave® device to thousands of active people around the world suffering the pain and discomfort of musculoskeletal injuries or of longer-term conditions such as back pain and arthritis.

BioCare Systems, Inc. began with a commitment to helping heal active people, and we continue that commitment today. Led by our Medical/Scientific Advisory Board, we are researching new therapeutic applications that will advance the role of light therapy in modern medicine. In fact, we have seven patents pending for multiple new light therapy products designed to address these new applications.

We have also improved our existing technology through greater manufacturing efficiencies. By changing some of our processes, we can now provide our same high, medical-grade product quality at a lower price than ever before, making the LumiWave® device more accessible to consumers everywhere.

Sherry Fox is responsible for overseeing all aspects of LumiWave’s product development, distribution, marketing and sales, financial operations and investor relations.
